Your Child’s Health & Wellbeing
Your child’s health, safety and wellbeing are important to us. Our school nursing team is here to support students throughout the school day, whether they become unwell or injured at school or have an ongoing medical need that requires additional care.
Keeping us informed
Having the right medical information helps us provide the best possible care for your child while they are at school.
New families are required to complete a medical form and provide an up-to-date immunisation record. For existing students, a new form is only needed if one has not previously been submitted or if there has been a change to your child’s medical information.
Please download the medical form and send this to your campus medical team.
Please let our nursing team know about any new or updated medical conditions, allergies, diagnoses, medications or other health needs that may affect your child at school.
Medication at school
If your child needs medication during the school day, please contact our nursing team before sending medication to school.
Parents will need to provide the appropriate consent and supporting medical information, including the doctor’s prescription or medical instructions where required. Medication should always be provided in its original, clearly labelled container and should not be kept with your child unless this has been agreed with the school.
For ongoing or more significant medical needs, our nursing team may also work with your family to put the appropriate care arrangements in place.
When your child is unwell
If your child becomes unwell or is injured during the school day, they will be assessed and supported by our School Nurse. Depending on their needs, they may return to class, remain in the clinic for a short period of observation or need to be collected from school.
Please make sure your emergency contact details are always up to date and that an authorised adult can be reached if your child needs to go home.
If your child is unwell before school, particularly if they have symptoms of an infectious illness, please keep them at home until they are well enough to return. If you are unsure when your child can safely return to school, our nursing team can advise you.
