U14 Girls Football- Semi – Finals

The NAIS Knights U14 Girls produced a stunning comeback performance to book their place in Monday's final with a commanding 5–1 victory over Malvern College in the semi-final.

The match began tentatively for the Knights, who took time to settle into their rhythm. Malvern capitalised on some slow reaction times in the early exchanges and were able to slot home a well taken goal to take a surprise lead. The setback, however, proved to be exactly what the Knights needed, it sparked them into life.

From that moment on, the Knights began to create some fantastic chances, pressing forward with purpose and intent. However, a combination of the woodwork and an inspired goalkeeping display kept them scoreless at the drinks break. The post, crossbar, and Malvern's keeper all played their part in denying the Knights a deserved equaliser before the interval.

After a few words of encouragement at the break, the Knights returned with renewed focus and determination. They began to capitalise on their chances, finishing some magnificent passing moves to score two goals before half-time and take a well-earned lead into the break.

The second half was one way traffic. The Knights continued to create chances at will, adding more goals to their tally with some clinical finishing and flowing team play. Malvern had no answer to the Knights' intensity and precision.

When the final whistle blew, the Knights emerged as 5–1 winners, a result that reflects their dominance after a shaky start.

Goalscorers:
Amara β€” 1
Helvetia β€” 1
Kaia β€” 1
Alicia β€” 2

The team now looks ahead to Monday's final, where they will face Stamford.

U14 Boys Basketball

The U14 boys' basketball team visited Stamford American School on Tuesday for the opening game of season 2.

A highly competitive game was anticipated and a highly competitive game they had.

The game was a battle between two very well coached and skillful teams looking to start with a win.

As is typical in basketball, the play switched from end to end, and both baskets were threatened constantly with quality shooting and offensive play trying to breakdown very physical defense.

A half-time score saw the hosts lead 27-24. The highly competitive game continued throughout the second half with both teams searching for the win.

A final score of 52-45 to the hosts means our team begins the season with a loss but showed how much potential they have this season, and they should use this close result as motivation for the rest of the season.

U14 Boys Football – Semi Finals

The U14 boys football team travelled to Malvern College to play their semi-final and get some revenge for a 6-1 loss in the regular season.

The pre-game discussion centred around flexibility in positional play and having a willingness to do the under appreciate aspect of football - work hard for each other and let the opposition know you mean business.

An early goal saw the team lead 1-0 and show Malvern they were there to compete. A change in our formation was required after Malvern adapted to the game plan and equalised to make it 1-1. A header shortly before half saw our team lead 2-1.

The second half started like the first half - a battle between two teams that wanted to win and play good football. Malvern equalised after a mix up following a throw in. The response from our team was quick and they took the lead again with a scrappy yet crucial goal for a 3-2 lead.

Then, a rarity in school football - a second yellow card meaning a red card for a Malvern defender in the final 10 minutes. Our players reacted quickly and scored to make it 4-2 exploiting gaps in the defense. The team remained composed and saw out the game to finish 4-2.

An excellent performance that showcased not only the team's technical ability, but also their hard work, determination and teamwork. Now, all eyes are on the gold medal match!

U16 Boys Basketball

Final Score: 64-46 Loss

The boys came together for their first game of the season after several missed training sessions. They warmed up well and appeared confident heading into the fixture. However, they allowed the opposition to establish an early lead and spent much of the game trying to close the gap.

Following halftime, there was a noticeable shift in energy and intensity. The team began securing more rebounds and applied increased pressure on the opposition's defence. Defensively, the boys produced several strong plays, including blocking multiple shots and protecting the basket with much greater determination and physicality.

Despite the improved second-half performance, the deficit proved too large to overcome before the final buzzer. While the result did not go their way, the boys gained a valuable understanding of the level required to compete and now have a clear focus on the areas they need to improve as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
