Secondary Campus Weekly Update 2 Nov 2026 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 2 Nov 2026

Dear Parents,

It was fantastic to see the spooky spirit across campus during our Halloween celebrations! Students and staff truly embraced the occasion, with Friday’s House Disco and games proving a great success, alongside some wonderfully creative window art displayed across the school.

This week, we are excited to celebrate Diwali and look forward to seeing a vibrant splash of colour across campus on Wednesday as we mark this important festival together with a colourful dress down day.

We are also very much looking forward to welcoming parents to our Ryan Parke event in Hung Hom on Wednesday, as well as connecting with families during our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday to discuss your child’s progress and next steps.

Finally, Tuesday evening promises to be a wonderful celebration of talent at our Young Musician of the Year Final. We hope to see many of you there for what is sure to be an excellent evening of music.

I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Fiona Thorndike
Head of Secondary

House Halloween Spectacular – Dr. Curley

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 2 Nov 2026 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 2 Nov 2026

Kwun Tong was transformed into a frightfully fun school last week as we celebrated our Halloween Spooktacular! Students arrived to find spiders lurking, skeletons keeping watch, witches’ hats appearing in unexpected places and “Happy Halloween” messages adding to the spooky atmosphere.

Our students joined in the decorating fun, filling their classroom doors and windows with wonderfully spooky images. With the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) judging their creations, there was plenty of excitement as students put their creativity and their scariest ideas to the test!

Throughout the week, students enjoyed a range of eerie challenges. From braving the Witches’ Mystery Box and guessing the number of sweets to searching for hidden pumpkins in the Pumpkin Hunt and testing their knowledge in the Halloween Quiz, there was something to keep everyone guessing, giggling and perhaps shivering just a little! Our Library team also led a special Read by Candlelight session, bringing an atmospheric touch of Halloween magic to the joy of reading.

Friday brought a spectacular finale, with students arriving in an incredible array of scary outfits. The corridors were filled with truly fang-tastic sights as everyone showed off their Halloween transformations! Students also had the chance to move between classrooms for trick-or-treating, with teachers embracing the Halloween spirit and joining in the frightful fun.

Our Halloween Disco and Dance-Off rounded off the celebrations in style, with plenty of monster moves, spirited dancing and excitement on the dance floor!

A special thank you goes to our House Champions, student House Leaders and House members, alongside the PTA, who led our Halloween Spooktacular and helped bring the celebrations to life. Thank you, too, to our Library team, staff and families for their support.

It was a wonderful week of creativity, laughter and spooky school spirit—a truly spooktacular celebration!

Diwali Celebrations – Dr. Curley

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 2 Nov 2026 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 2 Nov 2026

Get ready for a celebration full of colour, creativity and community spirit! From 2nd to 4th November, Kwun Tong will celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with a range of exciting activities for our students.

Our Door and Window Rangoli Competition will give students the chance to let their imaginations sparkle, creating vibrant designs inspired by the beautiful patterns associated with Diwali. We cannot wait to see their colourful creations brighten our learning spaces!

Students will also be able to take part in our Diwali Quiz, testing their knowledge and discovering more about the festival and its traditions. Adding to the festive fun, students will have the opportunity to enjoy henna tattoos, exploring the beautiful temporary designs that are part of many celebrations.

On Wednesday, 4th November, we invite students to come to school wearing bright colours, their House T-shirts or traditional attire. We look forward to seeing Kwun Tong filled with colour as our school community celebrates together!

Remembrance Day – Poppy Appeal

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 2 Nov 2026 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 2 Nov 2026

We will be holding a special Remembrance Day ceremony on Wednesday 11th November. This occasion gives everyone the opportunity to reflect and remember the sacrifices made by men and women through the ages and around the world, who have fought for our rights and freedoms.

The ceremony will include a reading from our Poetry Winners who will have a poignant message to share with the school. We will hold a 2-minute silence at the end of the poem (11am) before playing The Last Post.

Our Student Leaders will be selling poppies, the symbol of remembrance, next week that pupils can wear. All proceeds go to Hong Kong residents who have fallen upon hard times including ex-servicemen and women, and their dependents. Some of these people are now old and frail, struggling with disabilities and ill-health, who would be very grateful for any donations. If you would like your child to purchase a poppy, please send them with a donation next week.
